Science - What can I remember about Light?

 Today, both classes spent the time recalling what we had learnt about Light in Year 3.

After beginning the lesson watching our video from Adam Kay (who answered the questions we sent him last half term about our bodies and blood!) We began thinking back to what we already knew about light.

We were able to remember lots about the properties of light, but will need a bit of help with ray diagrams and shadows - so we will be focussing on that next lesson.

 Year 6  today  have been learning about musical notes and the beats attached to them. They then looked closely at a small section of Stravinsky’s melody. We clapped out the rhythm (several times - due to some random beats!) and then had a try at playing this section on the xylophones.

South America

 This term the children will be studying South America. Here is a copy of their journey.  During the first part of the lesson, the children recapped the different lines of latitude and longitude they have learnt throughout key stage 2. Then, they compared four different types of maps about South America: relief maps, political maps, tectonic plate maps and language maps.  Finally, the children used their knowledge of longitude and latitude as well as understanding that there is 15 degrees between each line of latitude on a map. Once this was understood, the children identified the latitude and longitude for different places on the world map.
