Maths- Multiplication
Learning objectives: I can multiply by two digit numbers
Our Year 6s built upon their place value knowledge and multiplication skills to start multiplying numbers by two digit numbers. The pupils first looked at partitioning the numbers then multiplying. For instance when calculating 123 x 42, the children would work out 123 x 10 then multiply that answer by 4. Then multiply 123 x 2 and add the resulting answer together with the answer to 123 x 40.
After the children had conceptually understood what multiplication is, we moved on to a formal method of working. All pupils worked really hard throughout this week and should be proud of their efforts.
