RE- Laws and Rules

Our RE on Wednesday was all about rules and laws. Throughout the day, we worked on enquiring, contextualizing, evaluating, communicating and applying our knowledge and thoughts on these.

We first worked on defining what rules and laws were, with all of Year 6 coming up with some interesting discussion points. The pupils wrote down rules and laws that they knew and also had discussions about what rules and laws are universal and which change from which community we are in.

After that, we worked on contextualizing rules and laws within the Christian faith. We learnt all about how Jesus broke the laws at that time, including breaking the Sabbath, opposing taxes for Caesar and committing blasphemy. The children then drew some brilliant WANTED posters of Jesus.

The pupils then went on to create a diary from Jesus about his 'crimes' and how he would of felt. One brilliant quote from many diaries read 'Sabbath was created for man, not man for the Sabbath'.

The pupils then created their top 10 rules to live by in which we had some brilliant answers: being present; always be kind to others and ourselves; be respectful of others and ourselves; be heathy and to be open to knew ideas and feelings.

All in all the children in Year 6 had a brilliant day learning about Christianity.
