Maths- NRich chocolate fractions

On Thursday, Year 6 looked at the NRich chocolate fraction problem, which looks at working out how much each person would receive if they shared the chocolate on their table.

Table 1 had 1 chocolate bar, Table 2 had 2 chocolate bars, Table 3 had 3 chocolate bars. We imagined a child would work in the room and decide where to sit to get the most chocolate. The first person would come in and sit at Table 3 in order to get the most chocolate, the second person would sit at Table 2 and so on.

The children were able to work out complex fractions problems, converting them into improper fractions and being able to compare fractions to see which table would give them the most chocolate.

What a great way to end fractions.
