Coastal features and processes
Sticky knowledge is the first step in every Geography lesson, recapping coasts and if they can change.
During the next part of the lesson the children were introduced to new vocabulary such as: Longshore Drift, Erosion, Transportation, Abrasion and Deposition.
Physical Geography is amazing and the children watched a clip demonstrating how objects/pebbles move along the beach (Longshore Drift) as well as understanding how grounds stops the movement of sand and pebbles. From here, the children used play dough to act out the processes of change from a headland to a cave, arch, stack and then a stump. Observing the children explore and explain the various processes allowed them to develop a deeper understanding of the different coastal features.
